What do you want your smile to say about you? Do you want it to show that you are friendly? Do you want people to consider you trustworthy?

A good smile can do both of those things and more to lift your spirits and the spirits of the people around you.

So what can you do if you don’t have a smile that you like? You can start by calling Dr. Robert A. Eckelson. He specializes in orthodontic treatment at his office Robert A. Eckelson, D.D.S., P.A. in Boca Raton, FL. Over the last 40 years, he’s helped thousands of patients get the smiles they have dreamed of having.

Today, he offers many orthodontic treatments that can help you or someone you love to achieve a perfect smile.

Tradition

Dr. Eckelson could tell you a lot about how braces have changed over the years. One thing that has remained steady is traditional braces.

Metal braces are still used and will likely continue to be used for decades. This system is a proven way of moving teeth where they should be.

Braces are brackets, which are glued to your teeth for the duration of your treatment. A wire connects to the brackets, which applies the force needed to move your teeth.

Thanks to improvements in technology, we are able to use lighter wires today than we could previously. This is one way that braces are more comfortable than they used to be.

Some patients don’t like the idea of having all that metal in their mouths. If you are one of them, then you should ask about our ceramic braces.

These work like metal braces. The difference is in how the braces look on your teeth. Ceramic braces use clear ceramic that blends discreetly with your teeth.

Self-Ligating Braces

You may be familiar with the small rubber bands that are attached to braces. These are called elastics or ligatures. They assist the archwire in moving your teeth.

Many patients would prefer to avoid dealing with ligatures entirely. Those patients may be interested in our self-ligating braces.

These braces are typically a little smaller than traditional braces because they don’t need attachments for the elastics.

We offer two kinds of self-ligating braces in our office. The first attaches to the front of your teeth like traditional braces.

The second option may be more aesthetically pleasing to many patients. These are called lingual braces. They attach to the back or tongue side of your teeth.

What Braces Can Do

You have seen Hollywood stars posing for pictures at red carpet events. Braces and other orthodontic treatment can help you get your own Hollywood smile. With braces, you will be able to make many changes to your smile.

Braces can straighten your crooked teeth. Braces can close the gaps between your teeth, and they can eliminate spacing and crowded teeth. Overbites and underbites can be fixed with braces. They can be used to correct crossbites and open bites, too.

Wearing braces is a commitment to yourself to have the best smile that you can have.
